Mary Help of Christians Statue
The Christians of the first centuries called Mary the name: “Mary Help of Christians”.
In the sixteenth century, Pope St. Pius V introduced the title Help of Christians in the Litany of Our Lady, celebrating the victory in the battle of Lepanto.
In 1814, Pope Pius VII, established the Feast of Mary Help of Christians on May 24, as a gesture of gratitude for his liberation.
Mary appeared in dreams to St. John Bosco and asked him to build a temple with the title of Help of Christians. And so the saint began two monuments: the physical one, which is the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Turin, and the "living" one formed by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
“Entrust everything to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and to Mary Help of Christians and you will see what miracles are”, said St. John Bosco.
