Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mini Wooden Retablo

15th Century Byzantine icon - Feast Day: June 27

Many miracles are associated with this icon. The gold background represents The Kingdom of God, the blue of Mary’s mantel, is heaven. The red of her dress indicates her Queenhood. Jesus is an adult figure representing the ‘divine mind of infinite wisdom’. Archangel Michael is on the left and Gabriel is on the right with their names in Greek. They hold the instruments of His passion. Recognizing, as a child, his future, he runs to Mary who holds him close to her breast. His sandal has come almost off.
 
Prayer at the back of the Retablo : ‘O Mother of Perpetual Help I hear humanity call to thee. You are compassion, refuge and hope. Pray for us.’
