St. Agnes Mini Wooden Retablo
Saint Agnes Mini Retablo
Patroness of Girls, Chastity, Purity and Betrothed Couples
Agnes was a beautiful young girl who had dedicated herself to God. Many men wanted her as their wife but she refused. She even refused the governor's son. He was enraged and wanted her beheaded. Law did not allow the beheading of a virgin. Many more horrible things were done to her to kill her or change her mind, but she was miraculously protected from much of the harm perpetrated on her. Through all of it she never lost sight of her devotion to God.
Prayer at the back of the retablo: "May all young girls innocents be protected, never betrayed. May they be kept them safe from all harm."
A Retablo is a devotional painting derived from traditional Catholic Church Art, often on rectangular wooden board that illustrate holy images such as Christ, the Virgin Mary or Saints.
