St Bernadette Statue
Bernadette was born on 7 January 1844, in Lourdes, France. One day, in 1858, while collecting firewood near a grotto, Bernadette saw a beautiful lady praying a rosary. She had a white dress, a blue girdle and a yellow rose on each foot. This lady was the Blessed Mother. She appeared to Bernadette many other times and identified herself as the Immaculate Conception.
On one of the visits, Our Lady asked for a chapel, and for Bernadette to pray and to drink the spring water that appeared in the ground at the grotto. People visit Lourdes today to pray in the chapel and many people have been healed by the miraculous water.
St. Bernadette’s feast day is on 18 February.
