St Monica Mini Wooden Retablo
St. Monica Retablo - Patroness of Mothers, Wives, Abuse Victims.
St. Monica was married to a pagan man who was much older than her. He was generous with her but had a terrible temper. With prayer she converted him and two of her children to Christianity. Her son Augustine proved to be a much more difficult case. She prayed and wept over him for seventeen years. A priest said to her that, "It is not possible that a son of so many tears should perish." Of course this son became St. Augustine.
Prayer at that the back of the Retablo: "May I be blessed as a mother and through your example of faith, may I help call forth my child's higher nature."
A Retablo is a devotional painting derived from traditional Catholic Church Art, often on rectangular wooden board that illustrate holy images such as Christ, the Virgin Mary or Saints.
